晚清时期西方近代天文学的传入和普及

晚清西方近代天文知识全面系统的输入始于《谈天》的翻译和出版,《谈天》引进了近代科学方法及其创始人培根的实验归纳方法。西方近代天文学基本概念、基础理论和测量方法传入,开创和奠定了球面天文学和现代天体测量学等分支学科的基础。《谈天》以后,中国古典天文学体系逐渐被瓦解。晚清的天文普及在《谈天》的基础上围绕最新天文学知识的译介展开,从朝廷到民间,到资产阶级改良派,不同程度上吸收和运用了近代天文学知识。清末以后,近代天文学在中国逐渐普及。
