| 摘 要： | 通过对威廉·福克纳的短篇小说《献给艾米莉的玫瑰》中主人公艾米莉对传统的眷恋与反抗,对现实的逃避与追求,成为美国南方社会的受益者和受害者等方面的探讨,揭示了艾米莉悲剧性格产生的家庭、社会和历史根源,剖析了处于历史性变革中的南方社会,分析了陷于精神危机中的南方人的矛盾心理,从而更好地理解美国南方文学传统和福克纳对其故土爱恨交织的复杂情怀.

| Abstract: | Focuses mainly on the ambivalent characters of Emily Grierson, the protagonist in William Faulkner's short story A Rose for Emily. The interpretation of Emily's love and hatred towards the Southern tradition, evasion and pursuit of social reality as well as benefit and suffering from the old South illustrates the family, social and historical root of Emily's tragic characters, portrays a typical picture of the South in transitional period and analyzes the southerners in spiritual crisis. The essay will help to better understand the literary tradition of American South and Faulkner's complicated feeling about his native land. |
