Public safety becomes a main concern after SARS.Numerous scholars have made research on it from the angle of their respective fields.The paper analyzes the researches on public safety in the fields of national security,safety science,jurisprudence,high-risk society,emergency management,crisis management and public administration,etc.and points out that the study makes it clear that public safety has developed to an actual issue,which threatens to national security,government safety,personal safety,community safety,even international security and human safety whatever it occurs as a nature disaster,an accident,or a criminality,etc.So it is necessary to study the related issues on public safety management.
