Contemporary Western literary works had their influence on the New Trend novels of the New Period in two ways: thematic thoughts and artistic forms.With regard to artistic forms,the Absurdist Fiction became the main source of modeling,inspiration and influence.To make clear the similarities between the two sides are necessary though more significance lies in the initiative contribution of the Vanguardists to the Current Chinese Literature.Their absurdist techniques have been developed actively and creatively.This loose school of writers adapted themselves to the historical trend of reflection and challenged the main stream of discourse.They localized the artistic thoughts of modern and postmodern Western literature and realized the creative transformation.The valuable spirit of the Vanguardist Trend is the pursuit of freedom which has become an integrated part of the impulsion of Chinese literature.
