Rereading Orlando from the Perspective of Rhetorical Narratology

Orlando is a unique holiday book written by Virginia Woolf.Some previous discussions on this novel centered on its androgynous ideas,the evolvement of Orlando as a character in literary history,or the relationship between Woolf and Orlando＇s prototype Vita,discussing the novel from the point of view of lesbian studies.The present paper rereads Orlando from the perspective of rhetorical narratology,trying to approach the novel by analyzing the identity of ＂we＂ and ＂you＂ in the literary text and explore the author＇s construction of the narrator＇s identity and the communication between the text and the reader when answering the question of ＂how to narrate＂.Woolf industriously explores the ways to reform literary forms.Her reflections on ＂how＂ to tell the story contributes to Orlando＇s special position in modern English literature.
