Modernity means the idea of time from past to future first of all; secondly, it stresses subjectivity and rationality and takes them as its essence and core. As the spiritual prototype of literature of the new period, the fugue poem reveals some typical features of modernity. "Believing in future" is its common belief and sense of time, advocating human subjectivity and rationality is its internal nature, and symbolization is its rhetoric form based on the sense of time and subjective rationality.
