Presupposition and Reader Acceptance in Literary Text

Presupposition is the implicit information or proposition embedded in a sentence or utterance.As a pragmatic phenomenon,both the coding and decoding processes of presupposition play an important role in the construction of literary text in a relationship of two-way interaction and neither should be neglected.While paying much attention to the role the presupposition plays in literary text construction,we emphasize the readers' reaction and their creative interpretation in the process of acceptance.Only in this way can we have both the construction and interpretation of the literary text achieve the optimum state.
