In the development of modern Chinese prose Yu Qiuyu is regarded as a master.He sticks to a primitive theme: what is barbarism and uncivilization, and their opponentcivilization. Civilization does not definitely win over them in each round of struggle; therefore he would like to shout out his ideas. With pain, anxiety and anger, Yu constantly questions cultural conscience of healthy personality, pilgrimage and historical fate of intellectuals, and tries to return to spiritual Eden for the sake of the soul. However on the long way of search, he restricts his rationality with various contradictions. By reflecting on history and conducting his reality exploration, he is still struggling on the pilgrimage and seeking for the flight of the soul.
