近代由于诸多帝国主义列强对我国的不断地凌辱和侵略,中华民族的生存危机日益深重。一批社会精英、有识之士深切地感到:只有振奋民心、寓兵于民,才能真正做到抵御外侮、由弱变强。他们振臂疾言,提出对国民进行“尚武”、“军国民”教育主张,并付诸实践,从而形成了我国近代特有的“尚武”精神与“军国民教育”思潮。
