Vagrancy and Returning: the Notion of Returning to the Origin in Hemingway's Novels

In Hemingway＇s novels, vagrancy and rearming both are literary symbols. Vagrancy means a way to escape from the rigid principle of the real world; returning means going back to the original places in which people can both mentally and physically settle down. However, for most modern Americans, such an idea of returning has become a dream which goes far beyond their reach. Hemingway＇s notion of returning to the origin is, in fact, to demonstrate how modern people lose their sense of origin and so they are destined to wander and find nowhere to settle down.
