从西方的中国形象看西方的文化心理

本文追索了西方人看中国的心路历程,即从“幸福宁静的希波尔波利安人”到美丽的“金羊毛树”和东方乐园,到世界上“最富裕文明的地区”,再到“泥足巨人”,最后到“黄祸”与“赤祸”,西方人对中国形象的打造经历了从神化到理想化再到丑化与妖魔化的历程,而不管西方人打造了怎样的中国形象,其实都显示出或向往、或崇拜、或恐惧、或仇视的文化心理。在这种文化心理的驱使下,中国人忽左忽右、忽明忽暗的镜像还会持续下去,“接触中国”、“遏制中国”的呼声还会持久交替。

Searching the Western Culture Mentality From the Chinese Images in the Western Eyes

This paper searches the images of the Chinese in the eyes of the Western. First, it is the happy and peaceful Hyperboreans. Following, it is the beautiful golden sheeps wool tree and the Eastern Paradise. Lately, it is the richest and the most civilized area of the world. Last, it is the giant with clay feet and the yellow disaster and the red disaster .So, the Western have gone through the mentality trace from deifying to idealizing, and to smearing the images of the Chinese .No matter the Western mold what an image to the Chinese, it shows their yearning for, or worshiping, or fearing, or hostile mentality. Urged by the mentality of the Western, the image of the Chinese of vacillating now to the left, now to the right will last, and, the voice of getting touch with the Chinese and containing the Chinese will replace each other lastingly.
