有宋一代，文人士大夫对声伎之乐的追求极为盛行，其流风所及，几乎每一文人士大夫都与歌姬舞女有过交往和联系，从一定程度上讲，追求声伎之乐已成为宋代文人士大夫的一种生活方式和时尚，并且在一定程度上成为一种审美境界。宋代士大夫声伎之乐的盛行，不仅与宋代最高统治者有意识劝导臣僚“以声妓自娱”的政策导向有关，也与宋代士大夫宦海升降浮沉紧密相联；宋代各类娱乐业和服务业的兴盛和发展，也为宋代士大夫对声伎之乐的追求提供了条件。
