英国马戛尔尼使团访华是中英关系史上的一个重要事件。使团在北京、热河的经历是其访华过程中的重头戏,使团成员留下的大量日记、游记、报告和绘画,详细记录了他们在北京、热河访问时所获得的有关风土人情、地理环境、人口、妇女、军事、官场等方面的现场材料,填补了此前英国人没有亲身游历北京、热河、天津等地的空白,成为鸦片战争前英国人"北京经验"的主要材料来源。本文着重分析使团成员对北京的叙述。

The Beijing Experience of the British MaCartney Embassy

MaCartney Embassy＇ s visit to China is an important event in the history of China and Britain.The Embassy＇ s experience in Beijing and Jehol is mast significant during this visiting.The large amount of the diaries,journals,reports and painting left by them,proves to be firsthand materials on the customs,geographic environment,population,women,military affairs and the officialdom in Beijing,Jehol and Tianjin where the British had not been before.These historic data has become the main resources of the Beijing experience in Beijing before the Opium War in 1840,and exerted a great influence on the West.This paper focuses on the narratives of its members in Beijing.
