本文首先简要论析了桑塔耶纳美学思想的哲学基础--他的自然主义哲学主张,对桑塔耶纳有关美的本质(审美价值、美的定义)、审美分析(形式美问题、表现问题)乃至艺术分析等美学基本问题的阐释,本文均作了简要介绍与独到评析.本文认为,作为自然主义的美学家,桑塔耶纳的美学思想体现了西方美学在20世纪前后的某种过渡性.一方面,他仍然注意到美的本质等美学的形而上问题,严肃地讨论美的定义问题,并得出了自己的见解.另一方面,他又从自然主义的特定立场出发,大量地、具体地、详尽地、有时是相当芜杂甚至矛盾地阐释了审美与艺术的方方面面的重要问题.他的学术思想,无论是研究方法还是具体观点对于我们无疑都具有重要的启发意义.

The Flower of Naturalistic Aesthetics--Satayana

First,this paper briefly analyzes the philosophical foundation of Satayana's aesthetic thought,that is,his opinion of naturalistic philosophy.Satayana's explanations of some basic aesthetic problems,taking the essence of aesthetics(aesthetic value,the definition of aesthetics),aesthetic analysis and artistic analysis for example,are also briefly introduced and originally commented.The paper believes that Satayana as a naturalistic aesthetician whose aesthetic thought incarnates a certain transitiveness of western aesthetics in around the twentieth century.On one hand,he still noticed some metaphysical problems such as the essence of aesthetics,seriously discussed the definition of aesthetics and developed his own viewpoint.On the other hand,starting from the specific standpoint of naturalism,Satayana interpreted some important problems of aesthetics and arts specifically,thoroughly and paradoxically sometimes.Satayana's academic thought is instructive for us,no matter his research methods or specific point of view.
