民国外交名宿--颜惠庆

在清末民初留学归国的诸多人物中 ,颜惠庆的经历较为特殊。他参加过清廷组织的留美毕业生考试 ,成为一名洋进士。从教育界进入外交界 ,管理过考送留美学生及筹备清华学堂的事务 ;组织过东三省大瘟疫的防治工作 ;多次为争取中国的国际地位进行外交斡旋。他担任过清末外务部参议、民国外交总长、北洋政府总理和中华人民共和国中央政府政治法律委员会委员。显赫的政治生涯使他成为一代外交名宿。

Yan Huiqing - Famous Diplomat of the Republic of China

Among the personages returned from abroad at the end of the Qing Dynasty and at the beginning of the Republic of China, Yan Huiqing ws peculiar in his experience. He took the examination for graduates going to the U.S. and learned a great deal there. He became a diplomat in charge of the students going to the U.S., for advanced study and prepared for the founding of Qing Hua University. He organized and engaged in the work for the prevention and cure of pestilence in Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. He discharged the mission and strived many times for China's international status. He became counsellor of ministry of foreign affairs. In the period of the Republic of China he was minster of foreign affairs and then premier in the Northern Government. He was member of polical and law committee of the government of the People's Republic of China. His celebrated career made him a famous diplomat of the generation.
