| Abstract: | Based on documents in Beijing Municipal Archive,this paper analyzes systematically suicide situation of Civilians in republican Beiping,including suicide's classification and reason of committing suicide. It shows that there are all kinds of social contradictions when modernization and social change occured in Beiping. It argues that the study of suicide reveals the life structure of civil grass-root society in urban Beiping. |
