晚清著名数学家戴煦

戴煦毕生从事数学的学术研究,孜孜NFDBDNFDBD,用力甚勤,敢于创新,敢为人先,在对数(理近微分)和对欧拉数的研究,都作出了贡献.他对三角函数对数展开式的研究,被誉为"前人未曾有的",在中国数学史上具有先进性和代表性.他的数学著作<求表捷术>,被英国学者艾约瑟(J.Edkins,1825-1905)1854年译成英文,在伦敦公开出版发行,影响颇大,各国数学家都公认戴煦在世界数学史上的重要地位.可是在以往已发表的数学论著中,把对数和欧拉数的研究,往往归功于近代著名数学家李善兰一人身上,这并不太公平,也不实事求是.本文着重论述戴煦在研究对数和欧拉数中提出的三角函数对数展开式和戴煦数的作用、意义和贡献,戴煦是晚清在数学学科领域内有创新的中国著名数学家,他在世界和中国数学史上的地位,应该有所提高.

Dai Xu, a Well-known Mathematician in the Late Qing Dynasty

Dai Xu, who spent all his life on the academic research of mathematics and worked with pioneering spirits and unremitting assiduity, made contributions to the study of logarithm and Euler's numbers, especially to the study of the expansion equation of logarithmic trigonometric function which was "without parallel" in his times and has been ever esteemed advanced and representative in the Chinese history of mathematics. His book A Quick Method of Making Mathematical Tables was translated into English by J. Edkins (1825-1905) in 1854 and officially published in London. Because of the repercussions it had in the world, Dai Xu ranked high among the mathematicians of various countries the world over.But all the mathematical works published in the past have taken credit to Li Shanlan, a famous mathematician in the modern times alone for the study of logarithm and Euler's numbers. This is obviously unfair and not true to the fact. This paper lays stress on the expatriation on the expansion equation of logarithmic trigonometric function that Dai Xu proposed in his study of logarithm and Euler's numbers and on the impact, significance and contributions that Dai Xu Number once made. As a well-known Chinese mathematician who brought forth new ideas in the mathematical field in the late Qing dynasty, Dai Xu ought to be fairly treated and his position in the international and Chinese histories of mathematics upgraded.
