The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and Cultural Blending between China and the West

The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom directly affected the progress and pattern of modern cultural blending between China and the west. On the one hand, it ended the dilemma between Chinese and Western culture after the Opium War and urged the Qing Dynasty Government to learn the western culture . On the other hand, it criticised and betrayed the Chinese traditional culture which faced the crisis and motivated the conservative thoughts of the modern culture, so that it formulated Chinese conservative style in the modern cultural blending between China and the west.
