Children with challenging behaviour: past and present in the United Kingdom

The aim of this paper is to give a brief overview of the historical and current understanding of and care for children with learning difficulties who displayed challenging behaviour in the United Kingdom. It is clear that challenging behaviour is not a new phenomenon but has existed throughout the history of learning difficulty.
