Towards a New Model of Bilingual Mathematics Teaching: the case of China

Abstract:In this paper we present a new model of bilingual mathematics teaching. This model is derived from our research in Guizhou, China, characterized by a rural setting with a relatively large minority population. We discuss our model, comparing it to the traditional model of teaching, in the context of student language development, cognitive development and cultural background.
