谈“等效翻译”

当代西方翻译理论流派林立,观点纷呈,其中不乏关于翻译标准的讨论。西方有关＂等值翻译＂的研究也有几大流派,奈达的＂动态等值＂论是所有流派中最有影响的。英汉两种语言及其文化背景存在巨大差异,＂形式等值＂在中英互译中有其局限性,而＂等效翻译＂在翻译实践中有其必要性与可行性。

On Equivalence Translation

Many theories and viewpoints on translation have been proposed by western theorists,many of which are about translation criteria.This paper gives a brief review of several schools of thought in translation theory,with special focus on Nida′s theory of ＂dynamic equivalence＂.It points out that due to the sharp differences between English and Chinese,and the differences in their respective cultural background,the principle of ＂formal equivalence＂ has its limitations while ＂dynamic equivalence＂ is not only applicable but necessary in English-Chinese translation.
