On the Visual Conception of Chinese Ink and Wash

Traditional Chinese painting about characters in simple ink and wash without application of color (ink and wash in brief) , which originated from the beginning stage, and experienced a long stage of development, has so far come into a base when all kinds of styles of painting coexist. It' s also a process that painting has broken the relative limitation of thinking in painting and is gradually entering into a stage of free interpretation of one' artistic ideas. The traditional stimulating forms of ink and wash can hardly meet the needs of the colorful life content and styles,nor can it seek a corresponding established form to demonstrate the subtleness of a character' s mental and emotional world. So the question arises how Chinese ink and wash finds a way of innovation while at the same time carries forward the precious heritage of former artists, which leaves many contemporary artists to explore. What is the future of the art of ink and wash?
