New Civilization beyond Imperialism and Terrorism:the Role of Ecozoic Studies and Process Thought

For fifty years, during the "Cold War," there was an "unstable" stability in the world as the two great forces of the Capitalistic West and the Communistic East played the dominant roles in the drama of world affairs. Today many forces have entered the contest for global or regional supremacy. America is the only hyper-power and exercises a kind of imperial dominance of world affairs through military power, economic influence and culture. Yet, this dominance is by no means total. The West is fractured in its allegiance. In many places, religious, regional and national movements, with their daring and passion, act with impudent, disregard of the effort to create a global, modern society. Ancient, sometimes almost primitive, understandings compete with the tenets of modernity in the world disorder of imperialism and terror. This paper presents Ecozoic Studies and Process Thought as providing hopeful elements of an undergirding philosophy for a constructively post-modern future for civilization.
