动词配价语法与英语教学

Verb Valency Grammar and the English Teaching

This paper introduces in brief the basic concept and content of the verb valency grammar as well its features, and indicates the present-day problems in the English teaching of our country. Emphasis is laid on syntax instead of semantic function. Therefore, many sentences made by students, though syntactically correct, read like Chinglish. The comparison between the verb valency grammar and the traditional grammar shows that an introduction of the verb valency grammar may help students develop their understanding of the English language.
