| Abstract: | This paper reviews in retrospect both historical and current teaching conditions of English for professional purpose (EPP), pointing out the defects in teaching materials and the difficulties that the students and the teachers have in dealing with the EPP. It argues that fostering students' interests in learning, practicing graded teaching, selecting appropriate teaching materials, or compiling textbooks in accordance with practical needs are the measures necessary for solving the problems therein. |
