Breaking through Culture Downside

In the process of the advancement of globalization, cross-cultural communication has become a universal phenomenon. Cross-cultural communication obstacles have partly been caused by cultural differences reflected in people's mutual exchange and the cooperation. The cultural identity brings about the positive effect and at the same time, the cultural repel induces the culture downside. The article discusses in details culture downside including stereotype, ethnocentrism, social categorization etc. On the analysis of their definitions, characteristics and causes respectively, some remedies like self-monitoring, cultural awareness and "learning to unlearn" are suggested.
