The paper analyses historically, realistically, theoretically and practically the idea that the market economic system is one kind of economy serving the people, which is popular in the present China, and concludes that although impractical in the capitalist society. in the socialist system, the market economy system can be applied to the building of socialism by making serve the people. The idea is or will still be of great significance and guidance for the establishment and improvement of the socialist market economic system.
