The Dispute on the Chinese Representation in UN Between UK and US in 1961

In the end of the 1950s and the early 1960s,a great number of newly independent countries entered the United Nations,which made it unserviceable the moratorium of the United States on the Chinese Representation. In this crucial time,the United Kingdom changed its position in the 1961,opposing the moratorium and upholding the admission of China into the UN.This change urged the United States to adjust its policy on the Chinese Representation.The United States had to consult with the United Kingdom to get the necessary cooperation of Britain.By this way,the United Kingdom influenced the policy choice and the decision-makings of the United States,and became one of the important factors that urged America to devise the policy of the "important matter".
