红学的要义和分科,在于对曹雪芹“解味”,在于理解“荒唐”和“辛酸”这一绝对的矛盾、措辞和内在含义如何统一在一起。“红学之旅”仍然处于“基本功”阶段。版本学新有起色,作者研究更异说蜂起。只有少量可观的红学著作具有史识的洞察力、哲思的穿透力。洋模式也是一种“八股文章”的变形,表现为以“占有资料”的全面显示“学力”,而治学的本质则多缺乏创意和灼见真知,只靠“名词”和“概念”来组织文字,罗列现象,代替治学自有心得的努力和深入真切的追求探讨,于是产生了一种似新而实旧的陈陈相因的“学术”。

The Pilgrimage of "Redology"

In China,there is a special branch of academic studies which is well known as "Redology",namely,the studies of Red Chamber Dream, the greatest novel in the Chinese literary history.This paper is a brief review of the present condition of this special field.The main point of this paper is to reveal what the author of the novel points out and what the author of the novel tells us,for the pages are filled with fantastic and absurd language,yet with the papers soaked by hot and bitter tears.Hence,the aim of Redology studies is to solve the absolute contradiction of this phenomenon.Judging by this standard,the present condition of Redology studies is still at its primary stage.
