论改革开放中的传统问题

自近代以来西方列强的入侵以及西方现代文明的介入,中国传统文明的自然进程被打断了,如何对待传统成为了一个问题。改革开放一方面凸显了传统问题,一方面又为处理传统问题提供了丰富的经验教训。现代文明本质上是一种反思性文明,它必须在对传统的不断反思和批判中获得自我认同。一方面,在现代启蒙理性的反思与批判中,传统出现了断裂,并被贴上＂落后＂的标签。另一方面,现代文明试图借助理性反思能力将世界置于主体的控制之下,从而导致生存意义的失落。在当代中国语境中,传统面临着双重的挑战：第一重挑战是异质的西方强势文明对本土文明的冲击;第二重挑战是现代文明对传统文明的彻底否定。但传统是割不断也不能割断的,它构成了生存意义的根基之一。面对现代文明对生存意义的驱除,对传统的反思同时也必须转变成对现代文明自身的反思。这就意味着摒弃现代文明的抽象理性立场,在对传统进行深入反思和批判的基础上继承和发扬传统。

On Tradition in the Reform and Opening-up

With invasion of western imperial powers and western modern civilization,the natural process of Chinese traditional civilization was broken up,which makes it a question how to treat the tradition.While it outstands the question of tradition,the Reform and Opening-up also provides abundant experience and lessons for treating the question of tradition in the other hand.Modern civilization is a reflective civilization in essence,it must obtain its self-identity from continuous reflecting and criticizing tradition.On one hand,in the reflection and criticism of modern enlightenmental ration,tradition appears a phenomenon of fault,and is labeled as "backwardness",on the other hand,modern civilization try to let the world be controled with the ability of reflection of ration,so as to cause the loss of life meanings.In the context of China,tradition is facing dual challenges,one is that the impact given by the heterogenuous and powerful western civilization to the Chinese native traditional civilization,and the other is that traditional civilization is negated by modern civilization thoroughly.But tradition neither can be cut nor should be cut,because it is one of the foundations of our life meanings.Faced to life meanings’being expelled by modern civilization,the reflection to tradition must be turned to that to modern civilization itself.It means that we should abandon abstract rational standpoint of modern civilization,and should inherit and develop tradition on the base of reflecting and criticizing it deeply.
