| 摘 要： | 作为小说家和诗人的托马斯·哈代,往往在创作中把小说与诗歌的创作因素互相渗透。他善于运用象征的手法,巧妙地营造一定的寓意性效果,从而使他的小说具有诗一般的独特美感。就象征艺术而言,《德伯维尔家的苔丝》也堪称佳作。本文探讨了这部小说象征艺术的四个方面:人名、地名象征,场景象征,植物象征和动物象征。

| Abstract: | As a novolist and poet,Thomas Hardy mixed the fratures of noval and poem together in his writing .He was quite expert in using poetic features in novals,and "Tess of d'urberville"was the best one .This paper discusses the four symbolic aspects:Name and place symbol ,scence symbol and plant and animal symbol. |
