| Abstract: | Chinese merchants in Thailand were among the first to set up Nan Bei Hang (North South Goods Exchange Centres) during the formation stage of Hong Kong as a seaport for entrepot trade. Chinese merchants in Thailand with Chaozhoulese as the main body, during the developmental stage of Hong Kong as an entrepot trade port, were active pioneers for operation of entrepot trade at Hong Kong, and right after WWII they went on to initiate the first round of the multilateral trade organized by Hong Kong Singapore Siam Shantou Trading System, thus unveiling the prelude for Hong Kong as an entrepot trade port to transit from its stagnation stage to its rehabilitation stage. |
