中国人本主义文学思潮形成于五四,先声却在王国维对康德、叔本华等人的译介。鲁迅是从反封建政治要求出发引进人本主义及其文学观念的第一人,他不仅为人本主义及其文学观念的拿来中国厘定了基本的价值取向,更创作了中国人本主义文学最杰出的篇章。周作人从主张"人的文学"到对文学应是"人间性"、"个人性"、"人类性"相统一的揭示,再到倡导儿童文学,呼唤女性文学,使中国有了较完备的人本主义文学理论形态。
