18世纪美国革命是一场社会参与度极大的运动,参与者不仅包括殖民地社会内部工人、商人、农民、地主等各个阶层,还体现了多种族的特征,黑人、印第安人也都在美国革命中发挥了重要的作用。易洛魁联盟是其中最重要的印第安人部落联盟,无论对美国革命的进程,还是美国革命对其后来的发展都有重要影响。在某种程度上,易洛魁联盟的经历也可以被看做是整个北美印第安人社会发展的缩影。
