Study of the Burial Customs in Han Dynasty from Northern Shaanxi Han Portrait Stones

Shaanbei Portrait Stone was developed in particular time and region, the rich content and peculiar art style of which is a mirror of the social life of the people of the northern frontier Region of China. By analyzing the documentary data and the portrait stones, it can be concluded that the burial customs reflected in Shaanbei portrait stones mainly include burial with abundant accompanying articles, the concept of Ying--Yang and the five elements, the custom of carrying pieces of cloth to call back souls, jointed burial, the burial for the persons back to hometown and etc.
