Abstract: | This article considers key developments in social work in thelast decade. From the vantage point of Australia, British socialwork (and the British Journal of Social Work) is seen in a particularperspective. However, some international comparisons are possible. Thus, the article focuses on two apparently contradictory developments:the search for uncertainty in post-structuraltheory and the search for certainty in evidence-basedpractice. It concludes that both, in different ways, describesocial work in the early twenty-first century. |
