Oscar Wilde is one of the most outstanding playwrights in British literature, whose dramatic dialogues are known for numerous witty remarks and artistry, no matter from the perspectives of rhyme and rhythm, diction or syntax, and whose stylistic features are thus very unique. It is indeed not easy to translate his writings with such a witty pen, yet Yu Guangzhong and Zhang Nanfeng successfully worked out the translated versions of his masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest, using various equivalents of linguistic artistry in the Chinese language and even by the technique of creative compensation, thus reproducing the original stylistic features and setting a good example of translating the works of Wilde.
