The Main Characteristics of Western Cultural Thoughts in the 20th Century

In the 20th century, the various crises and malpractices gradually emerged in the course of history in the modern industrial civilization, leading to the concern for reflections of scientific rationality and for the survival and development of man. Consequently, it gave rise to theoretical discussions of various kinds by all the theoretical schools, which result in cultural thoughts of various kinds. As a whole, these cultural thoughts assumed the following characteristics : reflective rationality, concern for the realistic life of man, prominence of the role that culture plays in social and historic development, the cultural mode from monism to pluralism, and the culture that is being popularized and merged into the daily life of man.
