| Abstract: | Modernization of Chinese language refers to the reform of the language during the social modernization in China. Ever since 1892, Chinese language has been on its way to be modernized. The chief achievements in the past hundred years include the popularization of Putonghua (Common spoken Chinese) and modern writings in the vernacular, standardization and phoneticization of Chinese characters. A system of bilingualism and diagraphia will the best policy for chinese Language in the new century. |
