重提多马传道会个案:从21世纪的视角看1世纪

跨对话的方法论允许对话各方把各自在世界中存在的冲突作为开放的探索进路。东西方文明的第一次相遇,即基督教和佛教的相遇,发生在公元1世纪的丝绸之路上。从基督教的视角看,是多马传道会改变了佛教的特点,把佛教引向了有神论的一边(因此有了大乘佛教),并首次将佛法介绍到了西方;从佛教的视角看,则是阿育王的使团将佛法带到了西方世界,并启发了艾赛尼派思想,耶稣接受最初来自该教派随后又离开该教派的施洗约翰的洗礼,把福音带到了另一个方向。佛教和基督教在东西方文明的相遇上都有一些正确的说理。佛教经典《法华经》中的寓言故事可视为我们今天开创多声音的文明对话而在古代丝绸之路上找到的一个历史见证。
