Interest Groups and American Trade Policy toward China:A Case Study on China's "Most Favored Nation Status"

In post Cold War period, American foreign policy making system has varied and the objectives of American foreign policy have transferred. At the same time, the degree of participating in the process of foreign policy making by interest groups has heightened. In the last years of 20th century, there appeared serious struggle among interest groups on the issue of China's"most favored nation status". The faction that supported going on trade with China unconditionally got victory eventually. This case makes clear that the interest groups are now playing more and more important role in the American trade policy toward China.
