| Abstract: | The development of the imagist criticism on poetry in ancient China has undergone five stages: 1, the sprouting stage; 2, the molding stage; 3, the flourishing stage; 4, the deepening stage; and 5, the perfecting stage. Its characteristics are mainly embodied in three aspects, i. e, figure, tension and appreciation of the beauty. |
