| Abstract: | Idioms are an essential part of a language that reflects the changes of a nation's social life and cultural characteristics.Based on the analysis of the origins of English and Chinese idioms,this paper intends to reveal the cultural influence on English and Chinese idioms,especially on those which have close relationship with myths and legends,religious beliefs,geographical environments and customs,thus making the language a communicative tool in expressing our feelings and thoughts. |
