| 摘 要： | 该文以萨义德的东方主义理论为框架,对庞德《神州集》的书名与内容进行考察,指出《神州集》的书名显示出一个浪漫主义的乌托邦式的中国,其充满悲愁的内容则显示出一个荒原式的中国。这种文不对题反映了当时西方人中国观的转变及西方列强对中国的殖民侵略,也反映了《神州集》的东方主义特性。

| Abstract: | Based on Edward Said's Orientalism,the paper attempts an examination of the title "Cathay" and the content of Cathay.The title reminds the reader of a romantic and utopian China whereas the content,full of sorrow and despair,reflects a China of wasteland.This contrast of the title with the content reflects the Westerners' changing visions of China,the colonizing invasion into China by the Western powers,and the orientalism of Cathay. |
