| 摘 要： | 犹太民族是一个饱经沧桑的民族.当代美国犹太作家多以"苦难"为题进行文学创作.本文着眼于犹太作家马拉默德的<店员>的创作风格之一象征手法的使用,从中探询"象征"在作品中所表达的思想及所代表的社会意义.

| Abstract: | The Jewish people are people who have experienced many vicissitudes of life in history .The contemporary American Jewish novelists write with a theme of suffering .This essay is trying to deal with one of the writing techniques -symbolism, which is used by Bernard Malamud in "The Assistant". Symbolism employs the author's thoughts and its social meanings. |
