| Abstract: | Thomas Hardy is an outstanding British realism writer.Most of his novels are tragic outcome. Tess of the D'Urbervilles is his best long novel that embodies the tragic awareness of Tess,the heroine, which has been one of the focuses of controversy.This article discusses the root of tragedy of the heroine created by Hardy in this novel from three aspects. |
