| Abstract: | The paper makes a general analysis, using some examples, of the lexical characteristics of the bill of lading (B/L) and charter party (C/P). The characteristics are: the use of technical terms, archaic words, words of Latin origin, synonyms and idioms. The paper also discusses briefly about the translation principles of B/L and C/P. |
