英语语言性别歧视现象探讨

语言运用中折射出的性别歧视倾向表现在语言的各个层面,从语音、词形词汇、语法到会话,都可以找到这样的证据.之所以如此,第一,女性自古以来所处的附属地位使她们在言语上表现得比较踌躇、委婉;第二,女性长期受到的歧视使她们不能尽情地发挥自己的才能,所以只好通过调整言谈举止,来获得相应的社会地位;第三,女性肩负着养儿育女的责任,因而她们比男性更能意识到使用礼貌语言和规范语言的重要性.

Sexism in language using reveals itself on all the language levels,phonology,mor phology and vocabulary,grammar,and conversation.The social-cultural reasons fo r this are the following:first,women's attachment to men since ancient times make s them more hesitated and mild in language using;second,the long-lived discrimi nations against women make themselvies unable to make full use of their tal ents,they ha d to obtain the status by adjusting to language and behavior accordingly;third, women take the responsibility of raising children,they are m ore aware of the importance of acquiring polite and normal languages than men.
