| Abstract: | Great importance is attached to weighing words in composing poems. Even greater importance is placed on picking the right words in poem translation, a crossculture recreating activity. As can be seen through the analysis of the English versions of some Chinese poems, the deliberate choice and diction of verbs in translating Chinese poems into English relie on such means as exaggerative wording, unusual wording and flexible wording, which serve three essential intended purposes, namely, the emotionalism, the accuracy and the vividness of the translated poem. |
