The Jesuit Johannes Schreck and His Contribution to the Culture Exchange between China and Europe

By the end of Ming Dynasty and at the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the Jesuits came from far to China for mission, which revealed the curtain of modern culture exchange between China and Europe. Missionaries were mainly from Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium and some other European countries. One German Representative Adam Schall von Bell, who was as famous as Matteo Ricci and named as two heroes in the Jesuits, were introduced and studied more at home. Another important German Jesuit, who came together with Adam Schall von Bell to China, gained the less significance in academia. He is Johannes Schreck.
